Hola friends!
Today started out with an early Dr.'s appointment with the "nether regions" guy, which I hate. All things look good, however, so I was in a good mood when I arrived late at work (notified previously). I was in by 10, when I usually receive my payroll that I had day from hell with yesterday and was transmitted VERY late, but I notified them that I was having some issues and they assured me everything was AOK.
Well, we have a person in accounting that needs me to translate a download for the General Ledger by noon for her and email it to her once I receive payroll and transmitted files. (Jana will understand all of this jargon). Such payroll usually doesn't arrive till 10:00 a.m. or a little later. Today it arrived at 9:30. Person in accounting went to my boss, who is my backup and DEMANDED that he receive and translate the files she needed. He screwed up, and when I arrived at work, my first priority was to determine what the hell he did. I COULD NOT "Begin New" in my receiving process because of what he did, so I had to get on the phone to customer support for our payroll. This process is sometimes immediate, other times I am on hold for the next available support person - that was the case today.
She continually harassed me via phone (while I was on hold with the payroll company waiting for customer support) - four times to be exact. I nicely told her that I was NOT painting my toenails, but waiting for a support person to get the issue resolved, which I did, by 11:00 a.m. and was able to translate her fucking files and email them to her. She called me within 5 minutes, saying she didn't get my email, so I sent it again. She called me AGAIN within 5 minutes, saying she didn't get my email (her mailbox was full and couldn't receive any more mail!) I told her to delete her deleted items to clear up some space, which she did. She called me back ten minutes later and said she got ALL THREE of the emails I sent her with her fucking attachment. Did she apologize? NOPE!
She put me SO far behind, that I didn't even hand out the checks to the guys on the shop floor, who get them usually at 10:30 a.m. so they can go to the bank at lunchtime (they get an extra 15 minutes on payday to do banking if they have too). Poor Tim was the one to call me and say that the guys are waiting for their checks. I unfortunately ripped him a new asshole and told him to tell them that as soon as I could get downstairs, I would. I did apologize to him later, but I was so stressed out by this BITCH that when I went down to pass out the payroll to the guys, I had to hold onto the first wall I came in contact with, because I felt like I was going to pass out.
I apologized to the guys for my lateness, blaming my Dr. appt. (which had nothing to do with it) and then went directly to HR to voice my complaint of harassment from Ms. Asshole in accounting. She was dealt with by HR later in the day and was told to apologize to me, but never did.
All of this put me so far behind in my routine, that I was unable to mail the semi monthly checks, do my wire transfer for the money (thank God it was for the semi monthly 10/30 payroll) and my other "routine" duties for the day.
HR had a talk with Ms. Asshole's supervisor that she is NOT to EVER AGAIN demand her info if it hasn't been received yet, or if there's problems with it. I felt better about that, but damn, today was REALLY a day from HELL!!!
Now back to my scanning to I can start my pet/life stories!!!
Thanks for letting me vent!

Going back in time...
Since Ms. Tortuga suggested that I blog some about my kitties, I've decided to go WAAYYYY back to the beginning of our pets, starting with husband #1.
I find blogging better than going to see a therapist, so you may see many painful parts of my life, starting with husband #1 (I even hate to use the term).
So give me some time to scan some pics of beloved pets (not just kitties, but dogs too!), my darling son who at the ripe old age of 4 lost his beloved Mandy (our first dog) to a custody battle, and then you can follow my life to now, understanding why I still see the glass full (I guess I'm a strong one).
David doesn't know many of the details of the divorce from his father, but at the age of 18, wrote him out of his life, because he was old enough to finally see the light - with absolutely no influence from me. I NEVER degraded his father, rather, I made excuses for him. Until David turned 18 and got many promises and no returns. So this should turn out to be a very personal, yet very introspective blog of how we deal with what life deals us.
I hope to have chapter #1 up this weekend if my scanner works fast enough for me! This isn't a teaser, it's the truth I'd like to share, so you know a little more about me, and what I've been through!
Prepare yourselves for some interesting reading!

I'm Alive
But, I've had two of the worst days at work ever. Year end stuff (9/30) and other things have kept me from blogging. I can't say anything about what's been going on at work, because I know of at least one person getting fired for what he posted about things at work, but let me tell ya, I've been "delegated" projects that DO NOT enter my job description {which puts me at a higher level) , but enter into someone else's on a much higher level that has NO CLUE how to do what she/he has been asked to do, by Nov. 1 The shit is going to hit the fan tomorrow morning when my boss asks how I have been delegated to a job that is clearly NOT part of my job description, even though I am capable of doing the job (nights and weekends would be involved to accomplish the task} yet they (people that should be doing the job) refuse to upgrade my job description and salary level. Valium will help me sleep tonight. Can't wait to see the results of tomorrow's meeting!
Sorry, I needed to vent!

Ansonia Fall Fest '08
Last Saturday, Tim & I went down to the annual Ansonia Fall Fest, which has something for everyone!
Every corner was decorated in a fall theme:
Most booths had scarecrows for decoration
The crafts booths this year were a little disappointing, hand made jewelry that was over priced, the usual stuff... about the only thing I liked were the handpainted flower pots....
Airbrushed Tshirts anyone?
Here's some of the whimsy from their window
Some of the last of our town's old school archetecture... one of Ansonia's original banks.. now a host to a law firmWhy yes we do have a cultural commission!
They had fun for the kids - feed the goats - but there was a sign that said please wash your hands after feeding the goats.. Not a bottle of Purel to be found!
Pony rides too...

And all the vendors selling their crap that they know the kids will scream for
this little dude has the life!!!
There was a pumpkin carving contest along with a story telling afterward. The person that carved this might want to see a psychiatrist

The single ladies were having their own good time
This Country /Rock band was really good!
and then there was the band Hubinger Street-- Classic Rock, and popular in the area - they were good too! Side note, Tim & I were standing next to the keyboard player's brother, who is the usual lead guitarist (the keyboard player) - see the big bandage on his hand? He severed four of his playing fingers two weeks prior doing a home improvement job with a circular saw - they were able to reattach all but one, but he'll still be able to play once he's healed
Town Hall was decked out
Hardware store
This was a clever one, and won a first place - he had a "normal"scarecrow face, and then his hands reached up and peeled it off to expose a very scary face! It was from a liquor store

From a men's clothing store
From a pizza parlor
This young lady took 1st place for "best dressed" - all the parts of her outfit were made from things in an antiques shop. - Note the lampshade skirt! She's from the antique shop

This is from one of the finest restaurants in our whole valleyThis little cutie was at the Polish food booth
These folks were from the Derby/Ansonia Historical Society. They run tours of the General David Humphreys house, built in the early 1700s. They dress in period clothing and talk the way folks did back then. They give weaving demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, etc. several times a month. They have an upcoming candlelight tour of the oldest cemetery in Ansonia, directly across from the Humphreys house. That's on our agenda!
This is one of the original horse-drawn firetrucks from the Eagle Hose Company. They had no date on it, but it's no small wonder why so many houses burned to the ground years ago. It is a beauty!
This is one of our favorites, Karaoke in front of Osiris Cafe, who has Karaoke night once a week
The kids were adorable
now my favorite part, the classic car show. I was a real motor head in my younger days and just drool over some of the muscle carsl.
THIS is my "Barbie Dream Car"... I'd love to own a Chevy Chevelle SS396 circa 68-70 - hey, a girl can dream can't she?
Another view of my dream carThis '70 Camaro was voted best in show with the Mayor's trophy
Remember these grills? I used to think they looked like teeth, and the headlights the eyes
Love the grill shots!

And this "odd" lady, who has a horrible voice, but comes every year wearing that very same outfit - I have photos of the last two years, and yup, it's the same outfit. Must be her "fair goin" clothes

And no car of any class was complete without white sidewall tires!
I thought this was a tricked out Olds Toronado.... BUT
It was a tricked out Mercury Monterey!

It was a fun day in all, the food offerings were great. The usual fried dough, pizza by the slice, cotton candy, hot dogs, hamburgers, Puerto Rican food, Indian food, Polish food, the great southern dishes from the ladies guild at the Macedonia Baptist Church - so many choices! We finally settled on Philly cheesesteak subs which were really good!!
We ended the day at Osiris for a couple of beers, and they brought the Karaoke inside... what a hoot!!
